Strategic Goals

  • Playing music for peace.
  • Carry out an operation that can strengthen the cohesion of the Mediterranean peoples.
  • To carry out an intervention of cultural contamination, where music is a measure of peace activation, and this represents the application of socio-territorial Marketing modalities but with purely ethical objectives (non-profit).
  • Implementing an action that conveys peace and closeness between peoples.
  • Raise funds to set up a music workshop for the Children of the Ballarò neighbourhood in Palermo, and to purchase musical instruments for the Lampedusa Music School and the Damascus Conservatory.

Description of operation

  • Identification and creation of the proposal for a widespread outdoor concert at Mediterranean beaches and broadcast on the network in September 2017.
  • Identification of Italian and foreign beaches for concert implementation.
  • Choice of the starting city: Lampedusa.
  • Identification of partners for the realization of the event-concert: Comart, EMMA For Peace, RPLeader, Mediterranean Society Sights, Rete100passi, Anna Zito, Francesco Mascali.
  • Identification of partner municipalities.
  • Crowdfunding operation managed by the partner Association “La Bottega delle Percussioni”.
  • Creation of the communication project.
  • Engagement and registration of artists and musicians from around the world.
  • Choosing the director to stream the event-concert.

Results

  • Hired about plus 150 artists from 120 locations: from Italy, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Greece, France, Spain, Tunisia, UAE, Algeria, Slovenia, Croatia and Kenya, Argentina.
  • Peacedrums had a 2nd edition in 2018 in Cagliari where the Mediterranean resonates for a message of peace and dialogue among peoples.
  • Musical exchange between different and multicultural genres and artists in spreading messages of peace and friendship.

Thanks to this activity, it was possible to create a cultural and musical bridge between the peoples of the Mediterranean, strengthening the sense of cohesion and closeness through the universal language of music. In addition, the success of the operation made it possible to raise funds to support the musical education of children and youth, helping to spread a message of peace and solidarity.
